RAX20, issues with DHCP... some devices losing their IP after a couple of days
Hello, I'm facing an annoying issue with my RAX20 router.
Once every few days, some of the devices (a Samsung TV and the three Mitsubishi air conditioning units) lose permanently their IPs and even rebooting them does not fix the issue: the only possible workaround is to reboot the Netgear.
The RAX20 is connected via Wifi to my home modem, and I use the RAX20 as my "main" Wifi router for almost all the devices I have: most of them (two different MacBooks, an iMac, an iPad, three iPhones, and other devices) do not seem to show the "lost IP" issue and only the Samsung TV and the Mitsubishi AC units show this behaviour.
I've tried to assign static IPs to these devices in the RAX20 admin console, but nothing changed... usually after two or three days, they lose their IPs and I have to force a reboot of the router.
I've searched the Community and it seems that I'm not the only one having this problem with DHCP and varous RAX models: some seem to have solved by upgrading their firmware (mine is updated: V1.0.11.112_2.0.77), others are still complaining, or have replaced their router with other brands...

Has a factory reset and setup from scratch been performed since last FW update? A complete pull of the power adapters for a period of time after the factory reset then walk thru the setup wizard and setup from scratch with a wired PC and web browser. Recommend setting the default DHCP IP address pool range to the following after applying and a factory reset: 192.168.#.100 to 192.168.#.200.

Set up some IP address reservations as well for other devices:

Hi,
I didn't apply a factory reset, thank you for the suggestion: I'll try it.
One importan thing that I forgot to mention in the original post...
The RAX20 router is currently releaseing addresses in the 10.0.0.x subnet (if I remember well, this was suggested as the default when I first setup the router).
My home modem is releasing addresses in the 192.168.1.x subnet.
The two devices use two ddifferent SSIDs and I need to have both Wifi networks enabled (they cover different areas in my house.
I'm definitely not a networking expert, but I fear that if I set both the modem and the RAX to issue addresses on 192.1.68.1.x (both with their respective DHCP servers) this might create conflicts.... or will the fact that I'll use different SSIDs avoid any problem?
If your seeing 10.xomething on the LAN side then the RAX is connected to something upstream that is already using 192.168.1.1 and the RAX will see this and avoid it by auto changing to 10.something.
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?

For those wondering, I've done some posts in a community of users of the Fastgate, and it seems that my model does not allow to disable the internal router and use it just as a modem.
I'll try to contact the technical assistance of my ISP (wish me good luck with their customer support...) to see if there is a way.
Otherwise I'll try again to reconfigure the RAX20 just as an Access Point and disable the Wifi on the Fastgate... when I tried few days ago the overall system was unstable, but this time I'll check step by step what I'll do.
So, those posts that Google finds are wrong:
ZTE H388Q bridge mode - Google Search
Not really surprising.

I've read the whole post (I'm Italian) but the conclusions seem to be that there is no way to configure the ZTE H388Q as a pure modem.
Anyway, I've created a new post on that site (it's a community of people hacking and modding a ariety of different brands and models of networking devices... so there's a bunch of tech-savy guys on that site) to see if someone has been successful in using the ZTE as a pure modem.
At the moment I'm not optimistic... it looks that the only option might be using the Netgear just in AP mode, but I would be losing some features.
