RAX43 does not make PPPOE request

I want to connect my router to my operator through an ONT in bridge mode. Since I am an employee of the company that provides service I can see the requests that PPPOE from the operator side, and I can confirm that no request is received from the user.

I have tried with several ONTs of different brands and models, and I have used an ONT that being in bridge mode I have connected the user with a router of another brand, but no request is made from the Netgear. Since the problem is reproduced with all ONTs, I rule out that it is a problem of this device.

I have updated the firmware to the latest version, the V1.0.10.110_2.0.7 and I have repeatedly resaved the VLAN (20) and credentials configuration, but I have not succeeded in establishing the connection.

When I click on apply or test, it starts a loading screen but after the timeout it does not show any kind of message or anything, it just goes back to the same Internet configuration screen and no request is made.

  • After many, many tests, incompatibility seems to occur with certain ONT models. Using the latest models of TP-Link ONTs, it has been possible to keep the PPPoE session active and access the Internet normally.

Although we have not been able to detect the exact incidence, we have been able to narrow down the problem in ONTs with more than 2 years of Huawei and Uplink brands, which are the brands that we have been able to test because we have several models that meet these characteristics.

  • I would reach out to a forum moderator and see if they can help you on this. Seems like something in FW would need to be checked.

Thanks for mentioning them! Last night I was testing with a Switch and doing Port Mirroning between the ONT and the Router and I can confirm that the connection to the operator's intranet is done, since you could see some requests like ping and WHOIS of devices present on the network, however no request is ever made to the PPPOE to authenticate the session and get access to the internet.
