RAX43 keeps dropping SKY and others

I have an RAX43 plus2 extenders and am trying to run my SKY mini box through the network. My RAX is connected via a BT HUB 6 modem lan port. The SKY box says that it is connected to the router but not the internet then for no apparent reason it starts working for a few hours then drops the internet and connection to the SKYQ box. When connected to my PC or phone I have the same issue It says connected but no internet, I reset the laptop or phone and it all connects fine untill its not used for a few hours. Its like a lease times out and does not reconnect, however nothing else running directly off the hub 6 fails. BT internet connection is good as other devices working off the BT modem work fine.  The netgear app says that everthing is working. The microsoft network connection app appears to show that everything is stable.

Any ideas?

  • What sky box is it?

What modem/gateway is the RAX connected to?

    What extenders do you have?

Does it matter if the sky box is connected to the router or to the extenders? (does the issue happen)

What sky box is it?   Its a Sky Q 2tb

What modem/gateway is the RAX connected to?  You lost me a little bit here but I have the RAX43 connected to BT hub ethernet port 1 (DHCP)

What extenders do you have?  2* EX7700

Does it matter if the sky box is connected to the router or to the extenders? (does the issue happen) Problem is the same. BT is stable to the SKYQ box Netgear keeps dropping.

I have an old house with solid walls so the signal was weak -80db in the bedroom. I had a lot of smart home tech connected to my BT hub guessing it was overloaded I bought the nighthawk. It did work for a time (a few hours not days)  and then started playing up. I've tried Smart connect and separate bands, I've moved all the bands apart to stop interference.  Another clue is that my phone keeps telling me that it cannot find Nighthawk on the network and then it finds it. I have tried connecting a lan cable between the extender and the Sky Q box and the second extender to the mini box no joy, do I need to address the boxes or should the router sort it out. Also the microsoft network diagnostic tool connects stable false then 10 secs later connects stable true. Its like Nighthawk goes to sleep and does not wake up until its prompted by a re-address command.

If your virgin hub is in router mode, put the netgear router in access point mode.

It prevents a double nat and lets the virgin hub manage dhcp without conflict.
