RAX43v2 can't log in to web interface

Model: RAX43v2

Firmware: RAX43v2-V1.1.4.28_2.1.26

Reset performed: YES

What is actually going on here? Have the login servers on Netgear's side been infected with some ransomware or something? When I try to login and my router is connected to the internet, I receive an Access Denied page with an incorrect serial number at the end of the URL for my router: https://accounts-qa.netgear.com/error?redirectUrl=http:%2F%2F192.168.1.130%2Fgenie_redirect_SSO.htm&serial_num=5G018A7EA006B. That is NOT the serial number of my router. When I disconnect access to the internet and try to log in, I can log in without any issue whatsoever. (See Picture 1)

I have Access Control turned on and cannot log in to approve my new laptop. I am very frustrated and should not have to reset my router (which I did and still have the same issue) just because no one can figure out what is really going on. Why does my login route thru Netgear servers and not locally to my router? I have never had a router do this and find this unacceptable. Is there a way to turn this off?

Since I'm on a role, why can I only turn off Anywhere Access on the stupid app (why do I need an app for a freaking router?) and not in the web interface? I should have EVERY option in the web interface that the app has. I bought this router about 2 months ago and had my previous one for 4 years without any issue whatsoever and I'm kicking myself for "upgrading" right now.

    fascinating isn't it?

maybe somebody here will help you brainstorm a workaround that's friendlier than a firmware meltdown.

  • Since posting, I went back to an older BIOS (RAX43v2-V1.1.3.18) which allowed me to log in as needed, but my wireless had a yellow warning on the home page and I couldn't connect any of my devices. I upgraded back to RAX43v2-V1.1.4.28 and everything is as it was, login still jacked.

Is there a way to turn off the login thru Netgear servers and only login locally?
