RAX50 router power light steady white but nothing works anymore

AX5400 don't know the firmware # because I can't connect to it (neither wired or wifi)

Bought it August 2020, so 90 day support has expired.

Unit worked reasonably well for 5 months. Then I had a power outage in my house (don't think it was a power surge). Now the router powers up with power LED steady white. No other lights come on. Ethernet is plugged in, pc is plugged in. Cannot connect to it via www.routerlogin.net or the phone app. No wifi SSID visible. Tried pushing the reset button 7+ seconds, several times (can feel the reset button go in). Have tried resetting my cable modem.

Contacted support via the website. They assigned a case number. Called the help phone number. They said that because the power LED is white and steady it indicates that the unit is good and ready to go.  Wanted $89 to research further. Told them I'd try the Knowledgebase and Community first.

  • As soon as I boot my RAX50 a solid white power light comes on.

There is no delay between pressing power and getting a solid white LED.

Pressing reset does nothing. 30-60-90=0. I've tried TFTP and NMRP flashing.

There is no response on 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1. Nothing nowhere over Network Miner.

No other LEDs come on, No flashing lights just solid white power immediately.

Yes, this is still a persisting issue.

    Looks like a nice router.

It would be interesting to see someone from, say like,  Netgear support or an engineer to tell me how to proceed.

Lol please excuse the passive aggressiveness.

    Regard.

maybe the power failure/surge caused the firmware to be corrupted.

You can try recoving it with tftp or nmrpflash.

are you on windows? if so, follow this guide

    https://kb.netgear.com/000059634/How-to-upload-firmware-to-a-NETGEAR-router-using-Windows-TFTP

just make sure you enable tftp

    https://www.thewindowsclub.com/enable-tftp-windows-10

and here's a video walk through using a tftp client. Use the built in one for windows 10 though. the video is more of an example of how its done.

and if that doesn't work, you can try using nmrpflash

Thank you for your suggestions. I enabled tftp on my Windows pc and set the IP address, but 'Connect request failed'. When I hold in the reset button and power up the router I don't get an orange power button and it doesn't flash. It just goes solid white. I tried several times.

I'll take a look at nmrpflash.

I have the same exact issue. I tried the rest procedure and the power button does not flash and remains steady white. were you able to find a solution?

my router appeared to have been bricked while trying to perform a firmware update from my iphone using the nighthawk app.
