RAXE300 No Internet Connection

Hi Everyone,

I woke up, this morning, to find my Nighthawk RAXE300 not able to get on the internet.  My Internet LED is solid orange.  It was working fine, yesterday, so I'm a bit confused on what happened overnight.

The following is what I did to troubleshoot this issue:

Rebooted router several times

Called ISP (Google Fiber) and they said everything is fine on their side.

Unplugged ISP cable from router, into PC - PC is on the internet.

Checked firmware - it says it's up to date.

I purchased this router in March 2023 and can't believe I'm having issues already.  My Linksys router lasted 5 years without any issues.

I prefer NOT to pay for additional tech support since support expired.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

Did you reboot the whole network?

    • Turn off and unplug modem.
    • Turn off router and computers.
    • Plug in and turn on modem. Wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
    • Turn on the router and wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
    • Turn on computers and rest of network.

You need to get the modem to reboot before the router starts looking for it.

    And what is that modem?

Not, sadly, a reliable test. How did you go about it? The on-board check and the Nighthawk app can get it wrong. What version number is the existing firmware?

But how did you check that if the router isn't working?

What dies that mean? You have an Internet connection with the cable but there is no wifi connection?

Quite right. This place is free. But if the router has died, it should still qualify for a warranty replacement.

Michael - thank you for the quick feedback and I am surprised (though I shouldn't be) for I had thought I had the latest firmware.  In the past, I would like on the Check for Update within Netgear software and it would always tell me I have the latest firmware.

Well, based on your advice,  I went to Netgear support page and discovered there is a new firmware version!!  I downloaded it and updated the firmware manually.  Rebooted my router and PC -- I AM ONLINE!   I AM ALIVE!

      Again, thanks for the advice!
