RAXE300 randomly drops connections and reboots

Summary:

I'm getting tired of random devices in my house losing internet over the week; morning, day, and night - no real rhyme or reason that I can see.  I would love any help because I don't want to pay for support for a router I just want to replace at this point.

Symptoms:

Typically seeing random devices get dropped from wifi and unable to reconnect without a router power cycle.  Both 2.4 and 5 Ghz channels have this issue, 6 seems okay.

This morning I woke up and saw I wasn't on wifi, status shows the router just rebooted.  Only other noticeable event that happens is the TV will not connect and when I input the password, it says its incorrect and not connect to the router.  This has been happening for months;  I have already factory reset (still happens) and then updated to this firmware and it still happens.  Thanks for your input.

Logs/Info:

Hardware VersionRAXE300
Firmware VersionV1.0.8.64_3
GUI Language VersionV1.0.0.20
Operation ModeRouter
CPU Load0%
Memory Usage(Used/Total)290MB/512MB

Note: Version after factory reset was v1.0.7.62

OFDMA not enabled for 2.4 or 5

2.4Ghz mode 286Mbps

5Ghz mode 2402Mbps

Nighthawk app says the channels I selected are Best for each are Best.

6Ghz doesn't seem to have this issue.

Devices: 3 hardwired, 22 wireless (mostly 2.4Ghz)

  • I have been fighting this for months and finally gave up.

I purchased a new ASUS router, I looked at other Netgear routers but it seemed they had similar reports with no resolution, set it up in the same location and it has worked flawlessly. No more drops and covers my entire house.

Normally I would give the Nighthawk to someone else, but I currently do not have anyone I disklike that much. So in the trash it will go to be written off as a waste of time and money.

    Good luck!

    Are you using ipv6?

    who's your ISP?

What modem/gateway is it attached to?

Its only the 2.4/5ghz with issues?

Are you using ipv6?   - No, it is disabled

      who's your ISP?   - Spectrum

What modem/gateway is it attached to?   - Modem is a Netgear CM1000v2

Its only the 2.4/5ghz with issues?   - As far as I can tell, my cell is the only device that connects to the 6Ghz, but I normally stay on the 5ghz to get a bit more range in the house.  All 3 are set to different SSIDs.

        Are you using smart connect?

Is it specific to devices that roam around (like phones/laptops) while IoT devices that stay stable keep the connection?

Are you using private mac/ip address on your devices with issues? I've seen that cause issues?

Are you using DFS channels for the 5ghz?

Do wired devices have issues? Always worth checking if its a line/modem issue
