RAXE300 region locked to Canada
I have exactly the same issue: Amazon purchase, I'm in the US and region is locked to Canada with up-to-date firmware. I have spoken to Netgear Help but have not received any suggestions other than "don't worry about it." This doesn't feel satisfactory to me.

You could updating the firmware of the router downloaded from the US model support page.
