raxe300 will not connect to my main router using the 2.5 gb ethernet port

I have an raxe300 router setup as an acess point. 

 

Was trying to connect it to the main router (rs600) using the 2.5 gb ethernet ports on both devices...but the raxe300 will only connect to the internet when the cable from the main router is plugged into the 1 gb wan port.

 

Running firmware 1.0.7.62_1 which seems to be the latest version.

 

Does the 2.5 gb wan/lan port on the raxe300 not work as a wan port when in acess point mode?

    What happens if you configure the RAXE for router mode, configured the 2.5Gb Multi Gig port for the main internet port, apply the change, then configure AP mode, apply the change then connect the 2.5Gb port to the RS?
