serial number is already registered

Hi everybody,

I would like to attaching my router to my new netgear account but it looks like already registered. i have the followingmessage :/

This serial number is already registered to another customer. Please email NETGEAR support Customer.service@netgear.com for help.

I tried to reach them but they did not answered yet.

If somebody could help me it would be great.

Thank you in advance!

  • Guessing perhaps you bought the device used? Perhaps through Amazon or another channel? The original purchaser registered the device. Netgear will change the registration. Just may take a few days. FYI, the warranty only applies to the original purchaser.

The above happened to me. I returned my "used" device, shopped around a bit, and purchased a new one at about the same price.

    What account is this?

Registering a device with MyNetgear has only two uses. It gets you the free 90-days setup support. It makes it easier to deal with the warranty returns process.

Neither of these is available for second hand devuces. YOu can't pass them on.

Apart from that you don't need to register the thing to do anything with most Netgear devices. Remote access, ReadyCLOUD, Parental Controls, all work without registering.

The Netgear moderators can arrange for the move to MyNetgear.

    Then there is this:

Thank you for your answer, so the situation is much clearer. For some reason, I thought registration was a condition of using the services you mentioned.

      Have a nice day!
