Strange behaviour: WiFi/internet RAX200
Internet/WiFi behaving very strange. RAX200
Hey guys. I'm seeing some strange behaviour on my WiFi at the moment and I'm trying to figure out what is happening.
I have an RAX200 connected to Sky Fibre, and have an EX80 extender. 3 days ago, my work laptop begun to refuse to connect to the Internet, I use this for work so it's a PITA - the laptop will connect to my WiFi, and will state I have Internet and will even connect to the VPN I use to dial in to my office. Whenever I've legitimately lost Internet connection, the VPN will not work AT ALL but now it connects and I can even see packets being sent and recieved, but I can't open any websites, or use teams and the PC acts like it's completely offline.
I've taken the computer to the office, I'm able to connect via WiFi to the same network, also via ethernet. As mentioned before I am not able to connect via the router HOWEVER I WAS able to make a teams call after unplugging the router and restarting for a few minutes. After this, again the same problems.
In addition to this, I am seeing issues using streaming software (RD) on an NVIDEA Shield. The Shield is able to browse the Internet, and other apps just fine so has a connection. Other devices on the network, mobile phones, tablets are seemingly working OK.
I'm fully up to date on firmware and this set up has been working fine for the last 3 months. Before I do a complete reset of the router, has anyone had any similar issues before?

Thanks very much!

Has a power off for 1 minute then back ON with the ISP modem and router been performed since last update?
Be sure to restart your network in this sequence:
Turn off and unplug modem.
Turn off router and computers.
Plug in and turn on modem. Wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
Turn on the router and wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
Turn on computers and rest of network.I would leave the Externder OFF while troubleshooting here.
What Firmware version is currently loaded?
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?
Be sure your using a good quality LAN cable between the modem and router. CAT6 is recommended. What channels are you using? Auto? Try setting manual channel 1, 6 or 11 on 2.4Ghz and 40 to 48 channel on 5Ghz.
Any Wifi Neighbors near by? If so, how many?Hey there Furry, thanks for taking the time to reply here.
Okay, so the situation is thus - I have done a complete factory reboot of the RAX200, and the extender (however I have not set the extender up and it is switched off). I have FTTP from SKY in the UK, and so am connecting directly to the RAX200 using 'Option 61' so there is no modem involved, the firmware is up to date according to the set up process on the router.
I have changed the channels are advised, and I am now able to have a teams call with a colleague, which is great however I am STILL unable to open or browse the internet and basically do anything else at all. When I do the internal speed test on the router via the Nighthawk app, interestingly enough I am ONLY getting speeds back for the upload - I get 0 for the download. To further confuse the issue, when I try to go to a speed testing website using WIFI on my phone (connected to the RAX) it will NOT connect and run.
To further troubleshoot, I have connected the laptop which has issues via ethernet to the RAX200 and I see the same problems.
Now, I have the original SKY Hub here, which I have set back up to see if this is an issue with the line or the router and to my surprise everything is working absolutely fine - I am replying to this thread on the computer which wasn't able to browse the internet using the RAX200. I think that some protocols or ports or etc are being blocked by the RAX200, because even the speed test app is WORKING on my phone when connected via the Sky Hub (WiFi)
Last night (and for the last few days since I have seen issues) on the NVIDIA Shield I have not been able to see any Real Debrid links for streaming content. Now, with the Sky Hub connected I am able to see these links.
Has anything like this happened before? Obviously, nothing changed on the settings the RAX200 as far as something I have changed. Looking around the access control area on the router no devices have any 'blocks' against them or anything like that. The RAX200 is 100% blocking traffic or protocols somewhere along the way.
Could this be a fault with the router itself?
I would leave the Sky router connected and then connect the RAX router to the Sky router. Remove any ISP configurations from the RAX router. Just use DHCP for the WAN connection on the RAX router. Use the Sky routers DMZ for the IP address the RAX router gets from the Sky router. Disable ALL wifi radios on the Sky router. Observe you findings using this configuration on the RAX router.
