Switching from PPPoE to IPOE (DHCP)
Hello,
I currently have CenturyLink Fiber and configured my RAX 50 to use it as my home router. I have been informed by CL that they are rebranding/splitting off their fiber unit and the new name will be Quantum. The concern I have is that they also mentioned that as part of this migration they will no longer connect via PPPoE but strictly by DHCP (the VLAN settings will still require me to use 201). Does anyone know if by changing my login required to "no" on the internet config screen whether or not this will change my connection to DHCP? I saw this in another thread but want to make sure before I start looking for another router or internet service partner. For connection options besides PPPoE, I also see vpn tunnel options such as PP2P but no IPOE.
Thanks,
Dave

Changing the RAX from PPPoE to DHCP should automatically help connect the RAX to the ONT services. Something to ask the ISP about. They will know this.
There's been a few other posts on here from users that have already been through it and most only had to change their vlan settings. But like FURRYe38 says, you might have to contact the ISP to see exactly what needs to be changed. It might not be a whole lot.

Thanks for the replies, I guess my main concerns is that my Nighthawk router does not appear to have the option to indicate that the connection should use DHCP. It currently only offers PPPoE, PPTP, and L2TP. Does clicking on no for required authorization automatically indicate that the router should accept a dynamic address? Also if there is anyone who has been through this migration and kept their same router, it would be great to hear from you.

Default mode for all NG routers is DHCP.
There will be a DHCP option seen under Internet Setup. There maybe two options seen here, DCHP and PPPoE selectable radio dots or buttons.
