Wifi speeds slower than what I am getting

I have 500/500mbps internet.

I have tested the speed on my desktop (wired) it showed 550/550mbps, but devices connected to wifi get slower speeds than what I get over wired. I tested some devices within a few feet from the router all on 5ghz in the same room.

My phone gets around 300mbps download and 120 upload

Wifi 6 laptop gets around 350mbps down 150 up

I have checked wifi channels, it is a bit crowded in my neighborhood. A lot of nearby wifi networks are on the lower channels and not many on the higher channels (149+), but higher channels give me worse signal and speed. I have restarted the router, did not change. The router is not in a terrible spot, there is a home phone next to it but probably won't interfere.

We don't have a lot of devices in our home running simultaneously or heavy usage.

Are my wifi speeds normal?

What model router do you have?

Yes, depending on router, and wifi device design and support, wifi speeds may never be the same as ethernet. Nature of the beast.

    details are key.

    1. what router do you have?
    2.  what phone and version is it?
    3. what wifi card is in the laptop?

These are all key as many laptops and phones either use 1x1 or 2x2 antennas. And some support 160hz and some don't. So knowing what router you have (potential capability) versus what device is connected to it helps us determine if your speeds are low or fantastic for what you have. With wifi having more overhead than wired, it won't every match the same speeds but determining how close to it you'll get, depends on the equipment.

How is the Basic and Advanced WiFi Settings on the routers web page configured?

If you have Smart Connect, MIMO and beamforming enabled, you'll be good.

I have MU-MIMO and Beamforming turned on. I don't use Smart Connect.
