FYI, the RBR350 is included the the RBK or Kit that has the RBR350 and a RBS350. Same FW versions for for the RBR or the RBK Kit versions.

Is the RBR a retail unit or did you get it from an ISP by chance?

Ok, updating FW from NG may not work. If this is from a ISP, then the ISP may have done there own FW development on it and not used stock FW and thus NG stock FW may not load on it.
I recommend you contact the ISP about this and see.

Thanks for getting in touch regarding the parental controls on your Orbi router — and cheers for explaining what you've already tried. We really appreciate you reaching out and giving us the chance to help.
I’m sorry to hear the parental controls aren’t showing up in the Orbi app — that must be frustrating, especially since your previous Fritz Box had that feature built-in. I’ve looked into this for you and I can confirm that while the Orbi app should support parental controls, there’s also a manual way to set up website blocking directly through the router settings.
Here’s how you can do that:
- Open a Web Browser on a device connected to your Orbi network.
- Log In by going to www.routerlogin.net and entering your admin credentials.
- Navigate to Block Sites: Go to ADVANCED > Security > Block Sites.
- Enter Keywords/Domains: Type in the websites or keywords you want to block and click “Add Keyword”.
- Repeat for each site or keyword you want to restrict.
- Save Settings by clicking “Apply”.
This method gives you basic parental control functionality by blocking access to specific websites. If you're still keen on using the app-based controls, it might be worth double-checking that your Orbi model supports Netgear’s Smart Parental Controls (SPC) — not all models do. You can usually find this info on Netgear’s website or in the router’s user manual.
Just to confirm — we haven’t installed any additional software that would interfere with the parental control features, so everything should be working as expected from our side.
Could you let me know the exact model number of your Orbi router? That’ll help us check compatibility with SPC and see if there’s anything else we can do to get those app controls working for you.
In the meantime, if you haven’t already, I recommend checking out the Netgear Orbi support site and their community forums — they’ve got some great self-help guides and tips.
