RS300 MAC Address Filtering

I purchased this router around a year ago and the MAC filtering has never worked correctly.  Devices continue to show up as being both allowed and CONNECTED to the router and allowed and NOT CONNECTED to the router.

Though I've been in touch with tech support about this, I am being asked to continually troubleshoot this issue, which I've done multiple times.  I've sent screenshots, reset the router, turned it off and on, etc.

I notice that no new firmware has been released for this router since I bought it.

Does Netgear plan on fixing this issue?

Thanks,

Jerry Gerber

The most recent firmware for the RS300 was released June 1, 2026 (more recent than "a year ago")

I would very much like to see a screen capture showing a device with the same exact hardware MAC address appearing to be connected and not connected at the same time.

  • Since you’ve already reset the router and repeated the basic troubleshooting, I’d check the firmware version first. NETGEAR released RS300 firmware version 1.2.7.2 on June 1, 2026, which includes a fix for the ACL list not retaining disconnected devices and showing limited entries. If you’re running an older version, updating may help.

If the issue continues after updating, compare the exact MAC address of the device in both lists and check whether your phone or laptop is using a randomized or private Wi-Fi address. If the same MAC address still appears as connected and disconnected at the same time, screenshots showing both entries, along with the firmware version, would help NETGEAR confirm whether this is a router interface or access-control bug.
