AC1600 how do I tell when the wifi is on....no indicator light and I don't want it on.

This is new; I haven't had wifi before and bought this one so it would be available IF I wanted to use it. Currently working off cable, cannot tell if wifi is on or off. Pushing the button does not change any indication on the modem. How do I tell? I want it off.

Further part of the question: if I go to the site to sign in to the router it says the site does not exist. That isn't much help.

I would review the user manual to see what LED indicators are on the modem for user use to see whats working or not.
