AC1600 Wifi AC Slow Wireless Speed
100 megabit per second speed from Comcast. Wired connection gets 100 megabits per second as tested with many different speed tests.
But my old laptop with wifi n had 5-20 megabits per second.
Purchased a new laptop with wifi AC. It also gets only 5-20 megabits per second.
This is when the laptops are within 3 feet of the router. I thought the AC wifi would get a better speed.

I'm sure that you're welcome. Given the rate at which questions
appear on these forums, it's not unusual for one to get pushed off the
first screen (and ignored) on a busy day. Especially when it lacks much
basic information.

"AC1600" is a speed, not a model number. Ever helpful, Netgear
product packaging emphasizes speeds like "AC1600", but that's not the
model identifier. When you get the model number, you might also collect
the firmware version number.

Is it connected to the 2.4GHz radio or the 5GHz radio?
Have you tried different settings under ADVANCED > Setup > QoS Setup?
("Enable WMM (Wi-Fi multimedia) settings ..." and "Turn Internet Access
QoS On". How are they set now?)- fcabanskiAspirant
Thanks for the reply.
it was that it wasn't connected to the 5G. Now it's getting the 100 mbps my Comcast service allows. It's terrific.
The model is C6250.Thanks
