Hi. I appreciate you answering. I have included a screen shot of all the "WOL" settings I see in my "Realtek PCIe GbE Family Controller". I have changed them to all say "Disabled". But the same thing still occurs when I shut down my laptop. The ethernet port in the back of my AC1750 WiFi Cable Modem Router (C6300v2) where I have the ethernet cable plugged into is always green when my laptop is powered on. Which I know is normal. And I do know what it means when it is flashing. But when I shut down my laptop, that same port shows an illuminated yellow light that sometimes flashes and some times remains steadily lit. And the ethernet "green light" is illuminated on the front panel. The only way I can prevent this from happening is to disable the "Realtek PCIe GbE Family Controller" in Network Connections before shutting down my laptop. I am just concerned that while my laptop is shut down/powered off that someone is trying or actually succeeding at getting information from my laptop. Any ideas? Thanks, Tom

Depending on how you shut down the laptop or just close the lid and how the laptop mfr designs the full power off, there could be some power or some activity on the line to the laptop. Some ethernet ports though the laptop maybe in sleep mode or just OFF, there is still power to the ethernet adapter and can show some activity and the connection. All depends on how the mfr and the OS designed and is configured to manage the ethernet adapter. If you pull the power cord from the laptop and the battery, there should be no indication on the back of the modem port then.
