AC1850 C6300

While away on a trip my home lost power briefly.  Following the blip outage the router would not power back up and therefore connected devices would not sign back on to the router.  (Nest Cam, Nest thermostat, and Igeek cameras.)  It took 4 -5 hours before it rebooted an came back on line.  What would cause this?  I am aware the C6300 is no longer supported with software updates but should the product be crapping out so soon?

How did you reboot the thing? Were you there to flick the switch or did you leave it to "nature"?

How long was it before the ISP was back in action?

Have you tried your own experiments with the on/off switch?

A modem/router should reconnect without any hang ups, but a complicated network can take its time. For example, the sequence in which peripherals try to connect and the time to takes can be important.

I have experienced "time outs" when the modem bit took so long to connect that the rest of the network gave up.

It never has supported by firmware updates. That's not possible with cable modems.

What is the latest firmware version of my NETGEAR cable modem or modem router? | Answer | NETGEAR Support

Newer cable modemrouters have saparate firmware that do allow updates to the router section.

The C6300 is now a decade old. Hardly the newest technology.

A c6300 is a modem/router combo device. when your power blipped, it might have taken out the CMTS hub as well. that could have caused the delay in getting back online. Has it been stable since?
