Ac1900 C7000v2 router/modem 5ghz wifi cutout

My 5Ghz wifi loses all data speed when downloading a game or large file. It start fine, gets to 15-20 mb/s then drops to 0mb/s over 5 to 10 seconds. My regular 2.4ghz downloads just fine, the issue is only with the 5ghz.

Has anyone had this issue, and have they found a solution? I tried resetting all my pc's network adapters, but I'm leaning towards it being the router.

Not sure how you homed in on the "router". In reality your C7000v2 is, as you accurately say in the subject, a cable modem/router. This means that the reply you received from the spammer (reported) is meaningless. You cannot update the firmware on a cable modem.

It also means that this may not be the best place to pose your question.

While many questions about routers are generic and could be answered anywhere, some things need specialist knowledge.

You might get more help, and find earlier questions and answers specific to your device, in the appropriate section for your hardware. That's probably here:

You might like to search there for messages related to your issue.

I will ask the Netgear moderator to move your message.

Feed in your model number and check the documentation for your hardware. Look at the label on the device for the model number.

    Check for various troubleshooting tips.

You may have done this already. I can't tell from your message.

I mention it because Netgear stopped supplying printed manuals and CD versions some years ago and people sometimes miss the downloads.
