AC1900 Modem Router C7000 Unknown Wired Device Showing under Attached Devices

I routinely encounter this very same problem with routers from both Netgear and Linksys.  I restart my routers and modems every month and after the restart I have what I call "phantom devices".  I have "phantoms" for both wired and wireless devices.  Like you, I can't understand how the network map shows more wired devices than I have ethernet cables plugged into my router.  Sometimes the router will show one or other of our cell phones as both a wired connection and a wireless connection!  And the description for "phantom" wireless devices are usually useless for trying to determine what that device actually is.  Is it the wireless doorbell, wireless garage door openers, wireless baby monitor, wireless standby generator, etc.

I have posted this problem in both Netgear and Linksys official forums and received no satisfactory responses.  Heck, they won't even provide appropriote device icons to use in the network map for many wired and wireless devices.  Like you I always "boot" unknown devices even the wired connection that does not exist!

This is a legacy problem that has existed for several years.  If you look in this forum you will see other customers complaining about this same issue for their particular router model.  It is time for router makers to address this problem.
