You will have to forgive the conflicting advice you get on where to post your messages. One person says post somewhere else, when you do that someone else tells you not to duplicate things.
Just do what works best for you. They don't run the show.

I assume that you got instructions from the maker as to what you need to do.
Try searching this community for the make. There's a chance that someone has already grappled with the issue.
It is very easy to assume that opening a port is the answer. In reality, it may be something else. That's why asking what you really want to achieve can be more useful.
