Don't know the relation between a traceroute to an overseas site, and where you suspect terrible packet loss. Here an ad-hoc check originating from Switzerland - where two hops seem to add latency (from Paris to Virginia US, addign about 80 ms total ~100 ms) and then through the US (from Virginia to LA, adding about 50 ms, total ~150 ms) and last but not least from California to Japan (LA to Tokyo, plus 100 ms or more, total ~250 ms):

Friendly reminder: ISP and carrirer backhaul routers have more important jobs to do than handle IGMP.

I unplugged everything from the modem besides my computer and nothing changed.
There might be something wrong. But then, the ISP says the modem is OK ... and that's the CAX30, isn't it?

My speed tests should be gigabit but are abominable even though actually downloading stuff seems fine.
Probably Gigabit on the downstream, indeed one could expect higher numbers.
The amount of correctable, and much more the uncorrectables on the RF link (the cable modem part) are just ridiculous.
