base station Arlo disconnected from internet

I have a Netear CG3000D combo modem/router.  Every so often I get the message from Arlo that my device is not connected to the internet.  There seems to be no explanation for this happening.  We have the Arlo cameras in our vacation home in Las Vegas and we are not there but only a few times each year for a couple weeks or so.  I have rebooted the router, disconnected and unpowered the base unit to no avail.  The base unit will not even turn on.  No lights.  I am not conversant in techno language so most of the discussions I have read I do not understand.  If anyone out there can offer help in plain speak, I would be grateful.

    Have you checked with the ISP if there has been any outages? also are you talking about the base station or the modem having no lights?
