Brother states I need static IP address so printer can reconnect to network

Question

Model C3700-100NASBrother tech support said that since the wireless printer drops from the network and and then won't reconnect as expected anytime my&nbsp;router hiccups, I should configure the router to hold a static IP address. There is&nbsp;no documentation online for this model&nbsp;nor do&nbsp;I understand any of the terminology. I am able to access my account and view the contents of the advanced tab. Can someone walk me through? Would it be ok for me to post a screen shot of the LAN Setup tab (if that's what I need) or would that violate my security? Thank you.

To clarify, my printer is now configured for&nbsp;static address. If I understood correctly, I need to set the router to hold a static address, though I don't know how it should relate to the printer.

advanced........setup........lan setup....use address reservations........&nbsp; after this done change printer BACK to DHCP

Searay, do I simply check the button under '#' and take no other sction in the Netgear Gateway? Are you suggesting that I use a troubleshooting approach different from the one suggested by Brother? Can you explain in layman's terms what this is all about? Thanks

A static IP has nothing to do with the router setting it's all done via client (printer) a&nbsp;reservation uses MAC address and reserves a IP for that MAC address ( every device has a unique Mac address)

if using a static IP you have to change router DHCP settings so the router cannot&nbsp;use that IP and&nbsp; prevent it from assigning it to another device.

The goal is to assign same IP to printer every time and using address reservations will assure it gets same IP. It's in the manual.

Searay, If I understand correctly, I do not need&nbsp;a static IP address, rather I need to reserve an IP address for the MAC address of the router. When the printer looks for the router, it will always see the same IP address. The device listed in the advanced tab is the router, and checking the radio button next to it&nbsp;will reserve the IP address shown. I do not need to&nbsp;'Add' or&nbsp;'Edit'.&nbsp;&nbsp;After I make this change I will need to switch the setting on the printer back to DHCP. The IP address shown in the advanced tab is different from the one just printed from printer's Network config page, which is now configured to set manually. Once I switch back to DHCP will the printer autimatically find the reserved IP address every time?&nbsp;Only a&nbsp;printed&nbsp;installation guide with the most basic instructions came with the device and although it was purchased as recently as June 2015, Netgear no longer references my model on their website. The wireless printer was purchased after Netgear's support period expired.&nbsp;&nbsp;I appreciate your guidance.
