C3000 lightning strikes pause the internet and reconnect
Hello everyone,
I have a C3000 modem/router. In these two days we have thunderstorms here in Massachusetts. Whenever there is a lightning strike nearby, my internet gets disconnected and it reconnects in about five minutes. Everything works fine if there is no lightning strikes. I have contacted my ISP (Comcast) and they said it is probably a hardware issue. Can anyone help? Many thanks.

A couple things could cause it depending on exactly what is happening.
1. coax cable not grounded properly
2. comcast hub not grounded properly or hooked up right
3. electrical system not setup properly.
4. lightening causing a power surge in the wiring and making the device reboot.
plus more.
Many things can cause it.
What I'd try? put your C3000 on a backup power supply with integrated surge protector. They're not super expensive and are a good resource when it comes to isolating an expensive modem/router. If the internet still dies during lightening, then its more than likely on the comcast end of things.
