C3000 not operating as modem

Hello, so I just purchased the R6400 router and was looking to connect it to my c3000 modem/router. I had a couple of problems. First of all, can I put the c3000 in a mode that makes it only a modem? Secondly, I keep getting an error when setting up the n6400 that it can't find the Internet connection. Does the configuration I mentioned above not work? Thanks

    You can put the C3000 into modem only mode by going to ADVANCED > Aministration > Router Mode and selecting No, then Apply.
