C3000 Speed Capped at 50 MBPS

I have a C3000 Cable Router + Modem. i see in its settings that it supports 2.4 GHZ,  I opted for a 300 MBPS Cable internet connection, but I never get more than 20 MPBS speed on any speed test. When i speak with the Cable Operator , they say i should get at least 250 MBPS speed as they see on their side.

Is this something to do wtih settings or it is just that the Router does not support more than 20 MBPS speed?

  • You probably wont see the 300Mbps speeds if you're only testing it wirelessly. Your modem/router will easily push 300Mbps+ directly from the Ethernet ports (backside), but not on the 2.4Ghz wireless band -it's a congested and watered-down air space. To reach higher speeds wirelessly, you may have more success with dual band routers that are either wifi5 or wifi6 standard because you'll have the addition of the 5Ghz wireless band.
