Well, this morning when I woke my desktop iMac from sleep it could not connect to the Internet -- and it was the machine on which I had loaded WireShark (!).
[One note: looking at Preferences/Network the machine seemed to have a long IP-V6 address, but no IP-V4 address, no DNS field, nor anything else.]
Sadly, I had not yet practiced how to run WireShark with capture filters, but I did this:
a. Ran for a little bit, to get a "pre-restart" sample, and saved the file.
b. Started a second run, went downstairs, re-booted the router, waited until the machine could fully access the Internet (first gets address, takes longer to get Comcast DNS fields), stopped WireShark, and saved a second (longer) file.
What is the best way to send these 2 files to you?
Thanks for the ongoing help.

Hi John,
See if you can send me private message with attachements.
If not, just upload them on a dropbox public and give me a link to download.
Let me know if either of those work for you.
thanks!
