I received an email today for a firmware update and directed me to go to routerlogin.net. When I tried to do so, I got a blank page with a box (page attached from Onedrive). Is this legitimate? I hav...

       Yes, but probably pointless.  Modern web browsers tend to complain
    about sending username and password infomation through an insecure path
    ("http://", not "https://"), but you're actually talking to your own
    router, so the threat is small.

       Firmware for a cable modem(+router) is normally handled by the ISP,
    not by the customer, so you probably couldn't update it in any case.
    Netgear broadcasts these advisories, but they fail to mention that they
    don't really apply to cable gizmos.  Perhaps Netgear has made a policy
    decision to annoy cable-gizmo users.

       With my weak psychic powers, I can't tell what you downloaded, and
    http://netgear.com/support/ seems to be having trouble today, so
    exploration is also tough.
