Thanks DarrenM. The modem is ok. I have learned that Time Warner has it assigned to my previous account and they have not found anyone who knows how to reassign it.
As much as it pains me it looks like I will be buying a new router and using Time Warners modem.

Thanks for the reply. Yes I gave them the number on the label and verified it by logging into the modem. Funny thing is it worked with Time Warner for over a year then I moved and it worked at my new location for a few days until Time Warner to activated it. Not sure what to do next.

Wait, you moved locations but are still with Time Warner? Maybe they think the MAC address is tied to the old location. Did you tell them that you moved?

I have told them many times that I have moved and they claim the modem was removed from my old account. When they try to activate the C3700 with the correct MAC address they tell me it is an invalid MAC address. I have talked with so many techs at Time Warner and they have asked their senior staff about it. Everyone says it is invalid.
Not sure what to do next but I will probably buy a new modem/router. Any suggetions on which one?

Can you PM the MAC address?

You should pick one off of their list of recommendations (here). Ironically, the C3700 is on the list.
Personally, I'm not a fan of an all-in-one modem and router. I prefer to keep them separate. In a situation like yours, separates avoid the need to junk the router.

I don't know how to PM the MAC address.
Yes the C3700 is on their list and I have been very happy with it. Time Warner has concluded the modem has failed and I should use theirs and buy a router.
