C3700 keeps dropping 5 GHz internet connection

I have a C3700 cable modem/wireless router which keeps dropping connectivity to the internet on just the 5 GHz band. I have it set up with seperate SSIDs for 2.4 and 5 GHz. The 2.4 band and wired internet connections are flawless however about once a week I loose internet connectivity on just the 5 GHz link. Signal strength is full bars for both bands. I have several devices and they all show loss of internet connectivity. A reboot restores functionality. It's done this since I purchased it about 4 months ago. Only firmware fixes I see posted address a VPN issue. Any solutions??

Have you tried changing the channels on the 5ghz network to see if something is interfering with the 5ghz signal.

Yes I have as well as changing the bandwidth setting. It still drops the internet access in 3-7 days on the 5 GHz band. Signal strength shows all bars when it's good and when it's not so I don't believe there's an interference issue. Also used the Wifi Explorer app to look at other wifi users in the area. The channels I use are relatively open with little interference potential.
