C6300 - Reboots frequently when my Alienware laptop conncets

We own a C6300 modem/router which works great generally speaking. It works without issue until I bring my laptop home from work. I have a brand new Alienware laptop w/ Windows 10. (My wife's laptop also has Windows 10 and doesn't cause an issue).

As soon as I connect my laptop, the router reboots itself, and then every few minutes (5-10 minute intervals) it continues to reboot until I disconnect the laptop. Sometimes, it doesn't do this. Not sure why, but it only happens with my laptop.

My laptop has a Killer e2200, 1525 wireless wifi card.

My laptop does not seem to cause this behaviour with any other router it has connected to.

Thoughts?

    Hello toddhd

Have you tried to update the Killer networking card to the latest drivers/

  • I have this same exact problem! My friend owns a Netgear C6300 and over the last 5 weeks I have had this exact problem. Just like you I have a Killer E2200 as well as the Killer 1525 network adapter. I didn't have this problem over the last 5 months, it just started up. I have connected at about a dozen different routers in this time and have 0 issues with any of them. I have also uninstalled Windows 10 updates as well reverting my drivers back to the original ones. My laptop is now back to the same as it was 5 months ago when I had no problem with my friend's C6300, yet I still shut it down. I have gone 8 hours without shutting it down, sometimes I go 5 minutes. The only thing I have noticed is that, when I watch a stream on Twitch, it will shut the router down the first time, but after it reboots itself I can watch a stream. This happens every time I visit Twitch. Sorry for the long post, but I am very eager to see if there is a solution to our extremely similar problem.

      Hello Spookytoast

Can you tell me the exact driver version of your killer network card so I can pass that on to our engineers.

  • Is there any possible way to get help with this? It's been 2 weeks and I am still exactly where I was

      Hello SpookyToast

Our engineers are trying to locate a Killer Network card to try and test this issue. Sorry for no response it will take them sometime.

  • This thread was posted in February and it's now been 2 months since anything was said. Is there any solution to this problem? I'd really not like to have to replace something I spent over $100 on because a team of engineers can't figure this out.
