Hello ejgibbs3
So is the Dish receiver connected to the router but unable to use the internet? or is it not connecting at all?

The Netgear C6300 should be connecting through WIFI to my Dish Receiver Box. It is not for some reason. The old router, Linksys WRT54G, was connected, through WIFI.
When I go to my Dish System Set-Up Menu / Installation / Broadband Setup / the connection status is :Not Connected.
When i select RESET CONNECTION, it tries but comes up with nothing.
DISH says I need a WiFi Broadband Connector to plug into the USB port on back of my Dish Receiver. I am puzzled why the Linksys did NOT need this to connect for many years.
Connecting with an Ethernet cord, although possible, would not be practible. Again, the old router connected through WiFi. I would think after selecting RESET CONNECTION on my dish Receiver, it would recognize the NetGear and ask for my password to connect.

Routers don't initiate Wi-Fi connections to devices. It's the other way around. Devices initiate Wi-Fi connections to routers. Your Dish Receiver isn't going to magically connect to your Netgear unless your Netgear is broadcasting exactly the same SSID as the Linksys did. You will need to set up your Dish to connect to the Netgear's Wi-Fi network. Consult the instructions for your Dish.
