C6300 Voice line question (EMTA will brick the C6300?)

I just added voice line to my comcast account because it was the only way to lower my bill. The technician told me that once the voice line was active, the C6300 cable modem would not longer work because the line would interrupt the internet reception, so I need a cable modem with EMTA capabilities. Is he correct? I have no plans to use the voice line. Can I just get some sort of EMTA splitter? I would prefer to keep my Netgear C6300.

 Frustrated if this is true, because I've been very satisfied with the C6300.

Comcast CDV (phone) service requires a modem with a Voice port. They will have to delete current modem and add New to your account. It's driven by equipment so if you want the discount the modem is a must have, they will not activate 2 modems. The tech explanation is BS.
