I understand from reviewing websites and the the forum here to achieve 1 GB speeds docsis 3.1 is needed, but why can i not achieve 400, 600 700 750 Mbps?
what I have read here and elswhere is that Comcast/xfinity supports docsis 3.0 up to about 700 -750 Mbps. Why am I only getting below 200 on avergae and only recently 300?
What I am trying to determine is if the "reason" given by Comcast is a load of malarkey, or if there is some explanation as to why this modem, which on the Comcast/xfinity website states it is good up 865 Mbps, will not do better than 300 Mbps. I truly do not need 1Gb service and would be fine with 600 or even 400, if the cost was comenserate, but based upon their (on the phone rep, and website) info this should be giving me much faster wired speeds than 300 ish and 5

Have the ISP check the signal and line quality UP to the modem. Be sure the ISP provisions the modem correctly.
Be sure there are no coax cable line splitters in the between the modem and ISP service box.
Be sure your using good quality RG6 coax cable up to the modem.
