C7000 "This router does not support remote access"

I am trying to set up remote access to my C7000 Nighthawk modem/router on my iPhone IOS 10.3.3. I have rebooted my router and iPhone while deleting and redownloading the genie app as suggested in other support pages.  Still the genie app reads "This router does not support remote access" when I try to slide on the remote access option in genie. My router firmware is v1.01.23 (Spectrum = ISP) and says it is up to date.  The router is registered, and I am able to log into my account at Netgear.com. Help would be appreciated.
