I only get two bars right beside the modem. Why is that and how do I get more bars.

what device are you testing with? are you testing on 2.4ghz or 5ghz? 2.4ghz is more sensitive to interference.do you live in house, apartment, condo, etc?

I have a house I use 5 g on my phone but my husband uses 2.4g and gets less bars.

what speeds do you get hardwired into it? what speeds do you get over 5ghz while close to it? and 2.4ghz?

Says I am getting 866 Mbps right next to it.

most phones are 2x2 antenna arrangements. Thats the max link speed you'll get out of it. throughput is different thank link speed though.
