c7000v2 being gifted to a friend
I disconnected this c7000v2 cable modem at the end of May because I switched ISP, and I just "filed" it away as a spare. However, now my friend still on that ISP needs a new cable modem. I defaulte...

If the C7000v2 is not broadcasting its/any SSIDs, and if it's not
giving your Ethernet-attached computer a good IP address, then it might
be in more trouble than you think.I'd try assigning static IP[v4] parameters to the computer, like,
say:address: 192.168.0.10
netmask: 255.255.255.0Then, when that doesn't help:
address: 192.168.100.10
netmask: 255.255.255.0

Did you also look for the LED descriptions and "Troubleshoot"? Even
without an ISP connection, I'd expect it to settle down and respond as
documented after a minute or two. Unless it has a serious problem
(other then not being connected to an ISP).

The ISP should be able to remove it from there system. Have them remove the MAC address for that modem from your account. You'll need to contact the ISP about this.
ALso just factory reset the modem by pressing the back reset button for 10 seconds then release. You should be able to log into the modems web page at 192.168.100.1 or .0.1 with a web browser.

Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your model number, and look
for Documentation. Get the User Manual (at least). Read.- AramFingalAug 12, 2020AspirantWell, good idea to call ISP to remove MAC before gifting.
However, I have "defaulted" this cable modem 3 times by holding the reset button down for 15 seconds, but now I don't see the default SSID listed on the side of the device, so I plug in with an ethernet cable (all while modem unplugged from house cable connection) and http://192.168.100.1 does not come up. I only get the error message "you are not connected to the internet". I was able to see the default SSID for a few minutes the second time I defaulted it, but was never able to connect via the credentials on the side of the device. - AramFingalAug 12, 2020Aspirantsorry i didnt see this other post. Since my c7000v2 never comes up and has stable lights other than the power light, i assumed i would not be able to administer the modem without an active connection. The device just stays in a power cycle. All lights light up, then power light is solid and upload/download/internet lights blink, then the network light comes on, then the device power cycles again.

It then says "when the modem comes online, the internet light stops blinking and lights solid green" . This never happens, even after 10 minutes like the manual says. I did read the manual on Install and activation.
