C7000v2 drops connection and slow wifi speeds

I recently bought a Nighthawk AC 1900 C7000v2 modem/router. It drops wifi connection to all my devices anywhere from once a day to a few times an hour. I usually need to hard reboot the router to get it functioning again.

I can't see anything noteworthy in the logs in Netgear genie. Let me know if I should post anything from there. I'm pretty technical, so I can do whatever. I just want this fixed.

Additionally, my wifi speeds are slightly below 100Mbps despite my wired ethernet speeds being 250+Mbps.

Firmware: V1.02.14

Internet Provider: Xfinity up to 250Mbps speed

EDIT

One thing I've found is this article https://kb.netgear.com/000036375/What-s-the-latest-firmware-version-of-my-NETGEAR-cable-modem-or-modem-router

It mentions C7000v2 Comcast firmware as being V1.02.08, yet I have V1.02.14. Is it bad that I am that far ahead of them? If so, where would I find the proper firmware?

  • Update: I reset to factory settings and my wifi speeds are back to 250Mbps. However, I did this once before and it eventually went back to dropping connection and being slow after a few days.
