C7000v2 I have a question about using wi fi only

You should be able to configure your C7000v2 as a wireless access
point. See, for example:

That's written for a Netgear C6300-as-WAP, but the steps are about the
same for any other router (any make/model) which lacks a one-step WAP
option. (I'd expect a C7000v2 to be very similar.)

I did exactly these steps and noticed a significant drop in download speed with the unit operating in this mode. So bad that I am having them come back to take the Altice unit out and replace it with the standard cable box. Then I will use my C7000 as intended and hopefully get a better Wi-Fi speed

comparing with which other speed, or how you measured either of them.
Similarly, what the speed might be with a wire-connected device, what
your wireless device might be, which radio band(s) you might be using,
or much of anything else in the category of useful information.
