C7000v2 Nighthawk cable modem router can't login using 192.168.1.1

Hello all! I have the above cable modem router and it has worked well for me up until today. We had a service outage from Xfinity our ISP. When service was restored, my computer was fine. However, both of my TVs require me to log in to my network account to get service.

Problem is, I don't want to use the apps that appear on the TVs. It requires me to choose a new password, but then doesn't accept the information. I have tried this several (more than 5) times!

Reluctant to use the Nighthawk app. Not even sure it will work. Xfinity also has an app, so I'm not sure which to use.

Please help!😕

Did you restart everything after the outage in the requited order?

Be sure to restart your network in this sequence:

    • Turn off and unplug modem/router.
    • Turn off computers etc.
    • Plug in and turn on modem/router. Wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
    • Turn on computers and rest of network.

How do these TVs connect to the modem/router? Wired? Wifi?

Connecting a TV to the network is usually best done through the TV's controls and set up routine. The router rarely does much more than spit out the wifi signal. It is then down to the TV to do its thing.

If the TV doesn't accept the wifi password, check that it is correct on the router itself and has not reset to the default password. If you have a backup of the settings for the C7000v2 you could reload that.

While many questions about routers are generic and could be answered anywhere, some things need specialist knowledge.

You might get more help, and find earlier questions and answers specific to your device, in the appropriate section for your hardware. That's probably here:

    Cable Modems & Routers

In the meantime you could visit the support pages:

    Support | NETGEAR

Feed in your model number and check the documentation for your hardware. Look at the label on the device for the model number.

    Check for various troubleshooting tips.

You may have done this already. I can't tell from your message.

I mention it because Netgear stopped supplying printed manuals and CD versions some years ago and people sometimes miss the downloads.
