c7000v2 not working with xfinity comcast

Plea for Help: Internet dropping with high frequency

Steps taken so far:

7 weeks of very poor internet connectivity issues with comcast. I have had new lines ran from pole to home as well as new lines from entry point to gateway. Reduced all splitters in house and capped all unused ones.

Issue started when I had N900 netgear system and only continued when I upgraded to the C7000V2 AC 1900 series.

Firmware version is current according to Netgear site and what my admin site is showing. Currently with a level 3 technician at Comcast as well.

Problem: DoS attacks & pings of death

hunreds a day on my logs, internet goes out repeatedly through out the day across all systems on my network. Comcast last comment was to go buy a new modem as netgear current firmware is incorrectly coding my iphone as Dos attacks each time i use bandwidth. Is there any truth to this? If not how can i stop my internet from dropping a dozen times a hour.

Netgear's firmware is great at creating false reports of DoS attacks. Many of them are no such thing.

Search - NETGEAR Communities – DoS attacks

(You may find recent conversations from people with cable modems.)

Use Whois.net to see who is behind some of them and you may find that they are from places like Facebook, Google, even your ISP.

Here is a useful tool for that task:

IPNetInfo: Retrieve IP Address Information from WHOIS servers

If these events are slowing down your router, that may be because it is using up processor time as it writes the events to your logs. Anything that uses processor power – event logging, QoS management, traffic metering – may cause slowdowns. Disable logging of DoS attacks and see if that reduces the problem. This does not prevent the router from protecting you from the outside world.

There is nothing you can do about firmware on cakle modems. It is in the hands of your ISP. Most hate rolling out firmware for their own devices, let alone users'  kit.

What’s the latest firmware version of my NETGEAR cable modem or modem router? | Answer | NETGEAR Support

If your firmware is outdated, you cannot manually upgrade your cable modem’s or modem router’s firmware. You must contact your Internet service provider (ISP) to upgrade your firmware.
