I'm testing on the 5GHZ. When conducting the speed test, it initially goes to 250 mbps then drops to a final score around 130 mbps down and 35 up. I thought going to a C7800 Nighthawk with 1gb plan on an iPhone 11 pro would give me a lot more than that. Also since it's a 3.1 DOCIS. My Orbi was an older one 3.0 DOCIS but the wifi speeds were close to 275 mbps consistently althouhg upload was only 11 mpbs.
Is there anything I can do to increase the wifi speed in the house?
Should I return the nighthawk and just go with a cable model and connect to a new Orbi since I don't see an Orbi Cable Modem/Router that's DOCIS 3.1 compliant?
Thanks All.

Most wifi speeds will max out at around 400-500Mbps based design and or HW limitations.
Most AC wireless will not see anything near 900mbps. My 6sP maxes out at around 500 average with Orbi AC or AX. However my 6sP is only rated for AC mode.

You may see closer to 900Mpbs if you have a AX supporting device.

Yes, understand on the wifi devices I won't get close to 1gb but was hoping at least 500 mbps.
On another note, would a mesh orbi provide better coverage than the nighthawk if i wanted to connect in my front and back yards? If so, this may be another reason I scrape the nighthawk.....

Yes, Orbi has more flexibility for coverage since it comes with satellites to move around to help over areas and theres a out door satellite unit availalbe as well.
