Can I use an external firewall with the C7800 DOCSIS 3.1 and WiFI Combo?

I am trying to figure out if I can use an external firewall with the C7800 modem/wifi combo unit. Currently I have an older docsis modem in bridged mode and a firewall in between that and a nighthawk R7000. I need to upgrade to a docsis 3.1 and I like the C7800. Is it possible to have all traffic bridged to a firewall than back into the C7800 out the LAN AND WIFI? You might get better and quicker replies, and find other answers, over in the appropriate section for your device:

No.  In Cxxxx models, the connection between the modem and router
sections is not exposed to the user.  You should be able to use a Cxxxx
as a modem only, but you have no access to a WAN/Internet Ethernet
interface on it, which makes using its router section as a router
    practically impossible.

    not possible.

    Buy 2 separate devices.

CM1000 and use R7000 or upgrade to something such as RAX80 or R8000P
