Can i use my Netgear C7000v2 as just a router or LAN Switch?

I recently switched ISP and the new ISP provided a free router and said i have to use it. I have my old C7000v2 lying around. I usually prefer hooking up my PC and PS4 via LAN. Can I run a LAN cable from the new router to the C7000v2 and then connect my PC/PS4 to the C7000v2? or may be even as a WIFI accesspoint that would be even awesome.

I looked into the Router mode option and from my understanding it looks like it is to use the C7000v2 as a modem/router (router mode on) or just a modem (router mode off). I believe if there was a setting to use it just as router that would solve my purpose too.

Getting a LAN switch for 20$ would solve my problem. But, just looking for a way to see if I can reuse existing stuff, I already have an old modem/router (Netgear N300) lying around collecting dust. Didnt want the C7000v2 to be put in a box and never used. Appreciate any ideas.

       What's stopping you?

If your actual problem is a lack of LAN Ethernet ports, then that
might be the best course.  However, a wireless access point can be used
as a network switch, whether or not you use (or disable) its radio(s).
    See, for example:

That's written for a Netgear C6300-as-WAP, but the steps are about the
same for any other router (any make/model) which lacks a one-step WAP
    option.

The lack of a WAN/Internet Ethernet port might make that difficult.
And, cascading multiple routers might be a poor ides, even if you could
    do it.
