Can I use Nighthawk AC1900 WiFi Cable Modem Router ONLY for wifi?
I have a Nighthawk AC1900 Wifi Cable Modem router for both the cable tv and internet I was getting from Xfinity. We are about to drop cable tv and just keep internet from Xfinity. I can't get a straight answer about whether or not I can use this cable modem router JUST for internet?
Right now I have this set up: CABLE BOX: 1 cable to Coax in cable modem
1 hdmi cable to smart TV
If I get rid of the cable box how do I rewire this just for wifi? Someone mentioned an ethernet cable. And do I need to do anything to 'switch off' the cable part from the cable modem as I've read in various places?
If anybody can answer this (and if you were explaining it to a 5 year old that would be great!) I'd really appreciate it!
thanks!

What is the brand and model# of the cable box?
You have TV thru the ISP then the cable box will be needed.
You can use the C series gateway modem as your main internet modem from the ISP to your home. This would need to be on a separate ISP coax cable line from the cable box for the TV services.

C series gateway modems can only be used in gateway mode connected to a ISP cable connection or in modem only mode, as this disables the router and WiFi portion of the modem.
