Can i use the C7000v2 Cable Modem Router as just a Router?

Question

I recently upgraded my service plan to a 1gigabit/s plan, my ISP informed me that the new plan was not compatible with my nighthawk C7000v2 as it is not a gigabit modem,

I was given a new modem/router 2 in 1 from my ISP which works fine over ethernet connection but acts a bit strange wifi wise,

Is there any way i can bridge my ISP's modem to the nighthawk and use it exclusively as a router ? what settings would I need to enable for this?

Can only be used as a gateway modem/router or in modem only mode.&nbsp;
