can't get my night hawk x6 to work with my new modem

Hi can anyone help please. Our local cable provider (Optus) just installed a new modem with it's own built in wifi. I have a Netgear night hawk x6 and have connected it to the new modem via a cable. But when I select the X6 wifi on a device it gives me the wifi symbol & "tick"but does not actually work!!  I prefer to use my X6 wifi rather than the Optus wifi. I can switch back to the Optus wifi and it works no problem.

Should I turn off the WIFI on the modem maybe?

  • If you can put the ISP device into bridge mode (modem only) do that, other wise, put the Netgear into AP mode and use the Netgear wifi.
