1. i can't get nextgen service at this time regardless of my modem.
2. even if i did have nextgen service, my cax30 is not yet capable of that (even though it is a recommended device)
correct?
Your specific service address has not yet been updated to receive the Xfinity Next Gen service. Work in progress across the Xfinity service areas.
Your CAX30 does not have the updated firmware necessary to allow it to connect to the Xfinity Next Gen network. The list of devices approved for Next Gen network connection is updated by Xfinity every month or so.
Yes, correct.

i am having an xfinity tech person come to my place but anyone else had success solving this?
one note--i tried to update the firmware from 1.4x to 2.2x and the app says i have the latest (1.4x) firmware now.
At this time you are not going to get 1000/100 Mbps throughput values with your CAX30 on Xfinity. The CAX30 is not yet on the Xfinity approved COAM hardware list. At this time, that list is relatively short. For details, see here:

XiFi/fast is not the same as Next Gen. The 1000/100 Mbps throughput tier is part of Next Gen. See attached.
One more time, go here https://www.reddit.com/r/Comcast_Xfinity/wiki/knowledgebase/next-generation-internet/, scroll down to the section on eligibility. The CAX30 is not on the list.
A review of your cable connection status table shows you are not in a Next Gen service address. You have no OFDMA upload channels.
